"Addison's Cala recording is a production of rare provenance. Recommended without hesitation."
Howard Smith, Music & Vision Daily
"This unusual disc..is actually based on quite a lot of hard graft–academic research, eclectic repertoire choice, technical know-how when it comes to wielding the trombone, and other qualities besides. It succeeds in evoking the domestic and intimate nature of music-making, and its sometimes ad hoc nature. Elgarians will welcome it."
Jonathan Woolf, Musicweb International
Sue Addison has given lectures and recitals on the trombones once owned by both Gustav Holst and Sir Edward Elgar, and researched the histories of the instruments and the composers' relationships to them. Here she presents pieces by Elgar and his contemporaries played on Elgar's instrument, with booklet notes telling the story of Elgar and his trombone.
